How it marks
Marked the way the VCE English exam is marked
Two assessor marks out of 10. In the exam, two assessors each give your response one holistic mark from 0 to 10 using VCAA's expected qualities for each mark range. Added together, that's your section mark out of 20. We do the same, then convert it to a mark out of 100.
Calibrated to the real cohort. We use ten years of VCAA examiners' reports (2016 to 2025), including the published mark distributions, where the average is about 5.5 out of 10 and only about 4 to 6% of students reach 9 or 10. So we can tell you roughly where your mark would sit in the state.
Feedback in the examiners' own terms. We tell you which strategies ten years of examiners' reports say lifted or limited responses, and point to where they show up in your writing.
